Home poker tournaments are now being sanctioned by Global Poker Federation. Individuals participating in home based No Limit Texas Holdem tournaments have the opportunity to see how their playing skill compares with others on a local, state and national level thanks to Global Poker
Federation's Amateur Poker League Software Suite. In addition they'll have the opportunity to qualify for the semi-annual GPF National Amateur Poker Championship where players will be competing for the grand prize of a seat at the World Series of Poker(TM) and a prize pool of $4,497,000 based on 2007 WSOP results. Additional prizes will be paid out to the top 9% of the field. The only way a player can compete in the GPF National Amateur Poker Championship is by qualifying through a local, state or national leaderboard race or at a GPF sanctioned tournament.

GPF-APLSS internet based point tracking system provides local, state and national leaderboards. Each time a player participates in a GPF sanctioned tournament they are awarded participation points and placement points that are determined by the number of players participating and the individuals overall finish in the tournament. Seats to the GPF's National Amateur Poker Championship are awarded to the point leader after the completion of ten tournaments at a location. In addition to being able to qualify for the national championship through an individual's play at a particular location a player can qualify through the State and National leaderboard monthly point chases.
Members of Global Poker Federation each receive a unique player number that tracks their play whenever they participate in a GPF sanctioned tournament. They also receive a player stats page that displays every tournament they have played in and how they placed. The GPF-APLSS also tracks what are called "Go Pro" points which is the equivalent of a bankroll. Rather than adding participation points to a players point totals, with Go Pro point tracking, participation points are deducted from their Go Pro total and the player must then win back the points through placement in the tournament.
